We are a young, busy couple who recently had our first child and are going through some career changes that will take us out of the home full time (M-F). Our home is about a 10-15 minute drive from Downtown/Uptown Minneapolis, so very close to a lot of great food, entertainment, public parks, and good higher education options. Since we live in a suburb, however, we are also very close (walking distance in some cases) to all other basic needs - grocery, bank, gym, etc.), and have a relatively quiet, very safe neighborhood. We were both raised with in-home care until school-age, and would prefer to provide our daughter with the same one-on-one, attentive care that we received growing up. We are progressive, kind, LGBTQ- friendly, and open to an au pair of any religion or nationality because we believe that diversity and cross-cultural relationships are important to the psychological and emotional development of humans of all ages! Some things we like: -A relatively tidy (but lived-in) home, especially the kitchen -Making wonderful home-cooked meals together -Trying new things -Playing games -Netflix (of course!) -Singing in our community choir -Doing Home-improvement projects such as remodeling our basement, Organizing our storage areas, gardening, etc.
You would live on our main level (right next to the bathroom), and would be our daughter's primary caregiver Monday-Friday while we are at work, and possibly also Wednesday evenings or some Weekend evenings as available (although you might have to fight off a couple of Grandmas for those!). We have two small dogs who require very little care other than feeding, letting them outside, the occasional walk, and snuggles. We would expect that you'd help out with keeping the common areas of the house (kitchen, bathroom, living rooms) clean, and may ask for assistance with specific tasks like laundry, dishes, vacuuming as needed.
