We are a fun, thoughtful and sociable family and we will do our best to make you feel comfortable and to help you to get the most out of your stay in England. We will help you settle, make friends and enjoy living in Oxford. It is very important to us that you are happy in our home and enjoy your experience with us. We really want someone who is keen to be a valued part of our family. We live in Oxford, a historic university city and just an hour from LONDON by train or coach. Alison is a Professor of Philosophy at Oxford University and Philip is a Deputy Headmaster of a senior school. We have a 9 year old daughter, Eleanor, a 6 year old daughter called Evie and an especially cute 2 year old toddler called Toby. We live in a 5 bedroom detached house within walking distance of the city centre, with its bars, restaurants, coffee-shops, theatres, cinemas, nightclubs, museums and galleries. There is also a leisure-centre with fitness suite and swimming pool just 5 mins from our house. We all love good food in our home and we always cook healthy fresh food. We will not ask you to cook for the family (other than heating up a pre-prepared meal for Toby) and we will always welcome you to family meals, which will be cooked for you. Eleanor is a kind, articulate and caring girl who enjoys, gymnastics, ballet and playing the piano. Evie is gorgeous, social and sparky and manages to charm everyone she meets. Dear Au pair Hi! We would like to welcome someone who really loves playing with young children into our family in October 2016. We are looking for a commitment of 9-12 months. The qualities we are looking for are: focused, caring, friendly, responsible, a good sense of humour and most of all a caring nature with a genuine love of children. Very good spoken English is also important. We have had 7 au pairs already, in the past 7 years. Each one has been special and each has had a positive influence in our home and we are still in contact with all of them. We would like to invite a fun and responsible girl to become part of our family from October 2016. She must be organised, enthusiastic, pro-active and sociable with a genuine love of spending time with young children – a real big sister! It is likely that you will be taking a gap year before starting university, or possibly a gap year immediately after university. You will be someone who has worked with children before (more than just babysitting!) and you will be able to provide references whom we will contact to discuss your child-care experience. Our current au pair, Christina, loves playing with Eleanor, Evie and Toby. She is very happy to talk to them a lot, telling them what they are doing/seeing, helping them develop their language skills and their understanding of the world around them. She makes them giggle. She sings and dances with them and she does not feel embarrassed or self conscious about doing this. She is a real loving big sister to all the girls, but she is calm, gentle and can keep control and dispense discipline when she needs to. Also, she does not look at her smart phone except at lunchtimes and after hours. She gives her attention to the children and does not rely on TV to keep them entertained. She often reads to them, plays games or does crafts with them. I would love to have someone who has these same qualities. Hours required: au pair plus (google ‘au pair plus’ or ask us!) Duties: Taking Eleanor and Evie to and from school each weekday. Looking after Toby most days (he is the one you will be spending most time with!) Light household duties (basically ironing and keeping your bedroom and bathroom tidy; we have a cleaner for the rest of our house) Up to two evenings babysitting per week (but usually this will only be once per week, often none!) Weekends and evenings will be your own, though you are always very welcome to eat with the family. Pocket Money: £ 110 per week
