We are two Americans in German with a Scottish shop! Just from that first sentence, you can expect to live in in a very intercultural and interesting home. Our shop is located just below us on the ground floor and we live on the 2 floors above. We took over the shop in February of 2015 and moved to Rothenburg in May of 2015. We have been married for 8 years and have also lived in Germany for 8 years. We have a very loving relationship with each other and also with our two girls. Our little ones are very active and love to be outside, go swimming, dance and enjoy music. They are very creative and love arts and crafts as well. Our oldest daughter is in school and our littlest goes to Kindergarten. They both speak fluent English and German, so you will also have the chance to practice your English skills or German skills with us here in Germany, which ever you prefer! We love animals and have two kittens and one older cat. Amelia is a singer and has regular gigs that she practices for as well as helps in the shop. Martin works full time in the shop, but is also artistic and makes tobacco pipes, time permitting. (He does not smoke cigarettes, but does enjoy smoking his pipe every day, but never in the house!) Amelia also loves to cook Vegan food and our family enjoys eating well and encouraging the children to eat well also. We are not strict Vegans and do enjoy cheese and fish once in a while. As a family we are pretty easy going and are not fussy about an extremely clean house or perfection. We love what we do and simply need a little extra support to keep our household ha
We are looking for an Au pair who is willing to be an all-around-helper. Some house work will be required. (Mainly dishes and laundry). The girls also have chores that we would like your help to see they get done. (We plan to have a house keeper to do some of the more time-consuming jobs). Some garden work. Picking the children up from school and watching them on the weekends and in the afternoons while we are in the shop. (This will require work on Saturday and Sunday, as our Shop is open both days, but only on Sundays on the Advent weekends). This will include taking them to the playground, doing crafts with them, just hanging out and having fun together. Doing some grocery shopping and preparing some meals, but most will be done by Amelia. We would also like someone who would like to help in our shop from time to time. We foresee that you would have week days from 10 AM to 2pm to explore and meet friends and you will not be required to wake up early every day. Your evenings will also be free after 8pm. (Some occasional babysitting in the evenings would be nice.)
