We are currently looking for some help during a transitional/moving period. At the moment, we are based in Cambridge, England where I am in the process of completing a postgraduate degree before moving to Bonn, Germany for professional reasons around early December. To make matters complicated, although potentially also much more appealing to an au pair, we will spend the interim period between mid-September and December in Palermo, Sicily where me and my wife will be working for two and half months. Our daughter is a cheerful, outgoing and friendly 2-year-old. At the moment she goes to full-time nursery at a nursery in Cambridge and previously already had an au pair between the ages of 9 months and 1 ½ years while my wife was completing her own education in Oxford. We are a multicultural and multilingual family and our daughter is growing up bilingually speaking both English and German as a consequence.
We are looking for a mature, trustworthy and child-loving person to help with the care of my wife and basic housekeeping. Both me and my wife expect to work between 5 and 6 hours a day during our time in Palermo. As a consequence, weekly child-minding hours would be 35h at the upper end with the occasional adult night out when babysitting is also needed. The working arrangement would essentially remain the same in Bonn as we acclimatize to our new permanent home and organize a nursery place for Clio. In exchange, we offer full room and board and a monthly salary of 500 euros. I’m happy to share pictures of the spacious three-bad flat which we will be staying in Palermo (it has a beautiful 40sqm terrace and borders the historic city walls) but have yet to find a long-term place in Bonn. Please note that we can only consider applications from candidates who have the legal right to work in the European Union.
