I'm a pretty easy going person who loves being a dad. I run a publishing business and work hard but I have flexible work hours. I like to exercise (running is my favourite activity and I'd like to get back to the gym) and play tennis and golf. Apart from my beautiful children, travel is my biggest passion and I have visited many countries around the world and wish to visit many more and introduce my children to other cultures. We are seeking an an Au Pair who readily engages with and who genuinely loves and is experienced in looking after children, someone who shares the same values in treating others with kindness and respect and who will take an active interest in the health and well-being of the children, their interests and activities. To provide quality care for my 2 children, Georgia (7) and Samuel (4) and to provide a helping hand around the home. The children live with me during the week and spend time with their mum on weekends During school holidays the time split on a 65 (Mother): 35 (Dad) basis *. We want you to feel welcome in our family and to have fun exploring our fantastic city and all that it has to offer– especially on the weekends. We would also love to learn about your culture.
• Getting the children ready for the day – seeing to the morning routine such as breakfast, and getting the children ready for the day - getting washed, dressed and teeth brushed. Georgia sometimes enjoys before school care where breakfast is provided, though dad prefers it if she has breakfast at home. Any before school care days will be confirmed. • Helping Georgia with school homework, either before or after school – this will consist of mainly reading and activities on the online application, Mathletics. • Childcare and school pick up and drop off and taking the children to any after school activities. • Georgia attends ballet every Thursday from 4pm until 6pm. Ballet is approximately a 10 minute car drive away. • Georgia attends ‘Rock N Roll’ band lessons from 4.00pm to 5.00pm on Mondays. The location is a 5 minute drive from her school. The pick-up and drop off is ‘car pooled’ with other parents of children attending ‘Rock N Roll’ lessons and will therefore not be a weekly roundtrip drive. • When the children aren’t attending outside school activities, to engage them in some fun activities such as going to the park or doing some fun quieter activities at home. • Dad will generally be home by around 6.30pm. • Dad has to travel occasionally for work and will be away overnight 4 or 5 times per year and away for 2 nights once or twice per year. • With the children’s help, keeping their bedroom tidy e.g. toys away and beds made in the morning etc. • Clearing away after children’s mealtimes • Stacking & emptying the dishwasher • Seeing to the children’s laundry, including bed linen (and your own) • Ironing – approximately an hour each week. • Keeping main living areas of the home tidy • Making packed school lunches for Georgia • Making meals for the children – Michael will advise what they generally eat. • Generally, it’s not expected you cook for Michael, although a simple dinner once a week would really help and he will often happily eat the same meal that is being served to the children. • Ad hoc shopping errands, only as required as Michael takes care of the weekly household shopping. • Keeping your bedroom and bathroom (that you share with the children) clean and tidy. NB We have a cleaner on a fortnightly basis who will take care of the bigger cleaning duties throughout the house. Therefore, cleaning requirements are really just seeing to the day-to-day maintenance of keeping a clean and tidy house. You will have most weekends free to do as you please. The children are collected after school every Friday night to spend some of their weekend with her. It will also be easy for you take some holiday time when the children spend school holiday time with their mum ( a total of 54 days per year)
