We are looking for someone to join our family to help look after our 3 year old son from September 2017. He starts nursery school in September, so we are looking for someone to help out mostly in the afternoons. He is a happy and outgoing little boy, full of fun and cuddles. We are looking for someone responsible, with common sense, but fun and loving, happy to play silly games and make sure Finn is safe and happy while we are at work. Originally from the UK and Ireland, we now live in the French countryside, in an idyllic location in the Jura mountains, a few minutes from the Swiss border. We are in an ideal place for someone wishing to travel around Europe in their freetime, being less than 10 minutes from a TGV station (Vallorbe). We live in a large, old house in a small hamlet, with the nearest town a 20 minute drive away. We have a very loving and sweet Great Dane called Dolce, and Jack the cat, so we are looking for someone who is happy with animals. I (mum) have just started back at work, and our son starts school in September, so there is a lot of change at the moment. We would like someone who can be at home with our son in the afternoons, after nursery and provide plenty of affection and fun while we are at work. Our household is relaxed and 'lived in', we love going up into the mountains at the weekends and eating in the auberges there, going to play parks and as well as playing in the garden, swimming in the lakes and local pool, and hiking, visiting the horses in the field opposite and the train museum over the border in Switzerland. You would be looking after our son 4 afternoons a week while we are at work (roughly 13h - 18h), including giving him his evening meal, playing games, tidying up after him etc. The main thing is to keep him safe and entertained during the afternoon. In general you will have Wednesdays and weekends off. As me working and our son being at school will be new for all of us though, we are looking for someone who is happy to be flexible if necessary. It might be that I sometimes have to work the Wednesday and take a different day off for instance. Weekends will almost always be free though. You will have your own room and bathroom and living area. It is very important to us that you are happy here and enjoy living with us and spending time with our son, and for you to feel like part of our family. We would like someone who is independent and has common sense. We would like you to help with light housework within your work hours, but mainly just tidying round after the little one. It would also be great if you can walk the dog once a day. We are happy to welcome someone without a driving licence, but please be aware that we are in the countryside with no public transport within easy walking distance. We are very happy to drive you though and the train station is a cyclable distance away. Generally if we are on holiday you will be too.
