Dear au pair **any German speaking au pairs please get in touch! We really would like someone to join our family in september*** We would like you to join our family of mum, Claire, two children, Millie and Hettie and our two cats. Dad, Phil lives very near by and has the children twice a week and every other weekend. It's an amicable arrangement that we have been doing for nearly two years now. We live in a large town in Essex, near to London and we enjoy lots of days trips to different places at the weekend. During the week we all work hard and have lots of after school activities to keep us busy. If you enjoy meeting new people, cooking and baking, visiting arts and cultural attractions like museums, theatres and like listening to or playing music, reading, singing, being outdoors, playing games and can make homework fun then you will love living with us! We live in a semi-detached house in Brentwood and you will have your own room with TV but of course you are welcome to watch films etc with us. Brentwood has lots of lovely parks and woods to explore either walking or on a bike. There is a good high street with shops and restaurants in Brentwood and it is only 45 minutes from London. We would like you to join us at the end of August 2018 and stay for as long as possible. We prefer it if au pairs live with us until at least July, so a full school year. I have had six au pairs now and this is what I have come to expect from an au pair: 1. Look after children - a consistent, proactive and understanding attitude is really important to my family. I expect au pairs to support Millie and Hettie to do things for themselves and learn life skills. An au pair who encourages them to do their homework everyday and makes sure they earn rewards for hard work will fit in well in our family. For the kids, I restrict iphones, tablets and computer access at weekends and they have limited access to any social media. They're too young! However we do use the internet for finding out answers to homework, looking up recipes and for creative reasons such as making short films. At meal times we have a 'no phones' rule so that we can talk to each other whilst we're enjoying a good home cooked meal. We'd like an au pair to be a good role model - are you that person? 2. Cooking and cleaning We like cooking at home as much as we like eating out. We need an au pair who loves cooking or is very willing to learn if they have had a little experience. If you know what is a good, healthy, balanced meal we would love to hear from you! We have a cleaner once a week but we expect the au pair to be tidy and clean up the kitchen, sitting room and any other areas of the house at the end of each day. We also ask the au pair to do washing and ironing each week and make sure the children put their clothes away. 3. Living with us We will share our home with the au pair and she will often be invited to come with us on family trips with myself and the girls. We value honesty, friendship and fun! We expect our au pair to treat us as she would her own family and we will do the same. Au pairs are encouraged to go out and meet new friends and visit London, Cambridge, and other cities with your friends. Au pairs are allowed to have female friends to visit but no male friends. Au pairs are not allowed to drink alcohol whilst they are looking after our children. We promise to pay you pocket money each week and ensure there is always good food to eat! We promise to help you with your English, if needed, and in meeting friends and will give you as much support as you need living in England. We also welcomed our au pair's own family to our home for holidays. These rules have worked for us in the past and we know that this makes a happy home for everyone.
