We are a family of 5 (3 children - 1 girl and 2 boys) looking for an au pair to join our home. We live in Canberra - an easy, terrific place to live, particularly with small children. We are so lucky with space, parks, activities and culture an to be 2 hours from the beach. My husband and I are both teachers, which makes it difficult to coordinate before and after school arrangements for our own children! Our three kids are very social and would love having an au pair as part of the family.
We have not had an au pair before - the children have attended day care part time since they turned 1 - but we are looking for a more streamlined, simple care arrangement for our family. We need someone who can transport the two older children to and from school/preschool (the 7 year old attends Mon-Fri and the 4 yr old, Mon, Tues and a half day on Wednesdays) and care for the youngest, who is almost 2 and a half, Mon-Fri. My husband and I would usually be home by 5pm but sometimes finish earlier. Likewise, there may be odd occasions (like parent interview evenings) where we might need a later finish but would negotiate additional payment as required. Working hours would typically be 7.30am - 5/5.30pm. No cleaning required - just general tidying up during the day (our helping the kids to do it!). Our au pair could negotiate time off in school holidays if they like or would be welcome to join our in our plans.
