Introduction personnelle
I would like to get a Master's degree at some point, ideally outside of Europe, so being an au pair seems like a great way to acclimatise to living so far away from home, while still gaining some work experience and having the comfort of living with a family. Ultimately, what truly draws me to being an au pair is this: the opportunity to become part of a family while immersing myself in a different culture!
My family has been hosting American students from Boston College that choose to spend a semester abroad since I was 4 years old (in total, we have hosted over 65 students!). Even though it's not quite the same as having an au pair, I have grown up surrounded by these university students that would live, cook, eat, and play games with us. My younger sister and I absolutely loved having them around the house, and we formed some wonderful bonds with several students that we still keep in touch with to this day. Because of this, I would love to experience what it's like to be on the other side and become part of a new family dynamic. Despite not having worked as an au pair before, I genuinely enjoy spending time with kids of various ages, whether it be playing, helping with homework, or simply listening to them.
