Personal introduction

We are a bi-lingual family (German/English) of 3 living in London. Our son Bela is 6 years old. He is a lively, fun and cuddly boy. My name is Romana. My husband is called David. David and I are working full time in London. We both work in IT & Digital, David for various retail companies and myself, I work in the English as Second Language teaching & assessment industry. We are looking for an au pair to help us with the school run, Bela’s homework and after school activities. We also want someone who isn’t a stranger to keeping everything clean and tidy.

The Au pair's job

I am originally from Austria but have been living in the UK now for 13 years now. David is a born and bred Londoner. Bela grows up bilingually and although the main language spoken at home is English (David doesn’t really speak much German), I exclusively speak in German to Bela and would expect an au pair to do the same. During the week, you will get Bela ready for school in the morning and drop him off at the local primary school. Nearby Bela's school there is also a language school for au pairs if you would like to attend English classes. Bela will need to be picked up from school in the afternoon, you will then make him a snack and do some homework with him before David and I come back from work. During the day when Bela is at school we will need some support with housework such as vacuum cleaning, tidying, helping with the laundry etc. Normally I will be back from work at around 5:30pm, David will be back by 7pm. I will cook a light dinner or make Abendbrot and we will all eat together. Occasionally David and I will go out together straight after work and catch up with friends. That’s when you will have to babysit. We normally don’t go out together more than two/three times a month. On the weekends you would generally be off. Bela goes to a German school on Saturdays and Football on Sunday. In the afternoons we catch up with friends, have Bela’s friends over or go out for lunch. Our au pairs are always welcome to join in on weekends too if they want. Bela has had au pairs since the age of 1, so he is used to having "big sisters". We are still in touch with most of the girls (either we catch up with them when in Austria or Germany, or the girls come to visit us) and of course you can have a chat with them to hear more about what it's like being an au pair with us :-) We looking for someone bright, friendly, active, enthusistic, social, and responsible who loves to be with children.
