Dear Au Pair we are looking for someone mature, sensible, independent and well-organised with a good sense of humour to help us round the house. If you think that's you then please get in touch. We live in a country house in 35 acres of arboretum in the countryside about 1 mile from Wadhurst village, 6 miles South of Tunbridge Wells with its shops and language schools, and 1 mile from a railway station that is an hour by train from London. We have three children - Phoebe 18, Hugo 17 and Poppy 13 and we are sporty, we love cycling, riding, tennis and swimming in the pool. We also have four lovely dogs and Poppy has a pony called Hans. Diana, our current au-pair, has left after 3 years with us and we need someone to help us in her place.
The role consists mostly of helping round the house with tidying and laundry, some light cleaning (we have a cleaner once a week), looking after Penny’s Mummy and helping Penny and Jeremy with their office administration. You should be able to speak passable English. Our family speaks English and French and all nationalities are welcome. Pocket money is £100/week for a 30 hour week, with scope to pay more for overtime. Driving a car is not necessary, however if you can drive and the insurance cost is not too great we may ask you to do driving also. If you like the look of our family and home, you are independent and adventurous, like animals and living in the country then we would like to meet you. Our au-pair has her own studio bedroom with cooking facilities and own bathroom in a separate wing. She buys her own food and generally takes her own meals, but eats with the family occasionally. For the fitness enthusiast there is an (unheated!) swimming pool, tennis court, walking and cycling (bike for au-pair). Tunbridge Wells is 2 stops by rail or 6 miles North with extensive shops and language schools. Wadhurst village is 1 mile away with pretty shops. London Gatwick is 19 miles/50 minutes West. Central London is 55 minutes by rail from Wadhurst railway station, so the role suits a country girl rather than a city-lover.
