We live in a nice terraced house in safe and friendly / Barnes, South West London with walking distance of Barnes / Barnes Bridge station. Hammersmith, Kew and Putney are all a short bus ride away. There are lots of shops, bars, theatres, river walks etc etc in close proximity. The au pair’s room is a comfortable double room. There’s a shared bathroom on the first floor. I am a single mum and have one 7 year old daughter. I am due to go back to work full time in October. We are both very easy going but maybe a little disorganised. My daughter is a friendly, gentle girl and needs someone who is kind, gentle and playful and to look after her, no one who would describe themselves as firm or bossy would work for us really! We also have two super friendly Ocicats, so a cat lover would be preferred. The cats will require feeding (one of them is diabetic, and needs twice daily injections, she is very good natured and used to these and will sit whilst you do them, I will show you several times how to do it before leaving you to it (!), so it is preferable that you are not squeamish about needles.
The role involves some cleaning chores, basically keeping the house tidy (we are pretty tidy anyway) and some vacuuming/dusting/wiping around and mopping the kitchen floor once a week, loading/unloading the dishwasher, some clothes washing and ironing of my daughter’s clothes, making sure the kitchen is clean and tidy after meal times, keeping my daughter’s room tidy. My daughter needs to be picked up from school (10 mins walk) and given a home-made meal. She will also need a little help with homework. Sometimes, probably once a week she has a playdate so she will bring a friend home for play and dinner. Also, there will be some babysitting (no more than 2 nights a week, every other Saturday evening and one (or occasionally two) night(s) during the week - my daughter is in bed at 8pm. Pay is £70 a week. Please submit a brief CV. You must have 2 references from previous au-pair work. The role is initially for 3 months but could potentially carry on longer. Monday to Friday Mornings - 7.00am to 9am (most days, however for 2 days a week at the moment she has a club at school so can be dropped off by 8am) Afternoons - 3.15pm to 6.45pm (again, two days a week she has clubs) Plus 2 nights babysitting To include every other Saturday and maybe 1 week night or a Friday night (I wont always need this, just as and when) IMPORTANT PLEASE READ BELOW: Please apply only if you meet these criteria: • You can speak English to a good standard • You can legally work in the UK • You are can flexible with working hours when needed • You are punctual, even tempered and kind • Also, I am a single working mother, with little free time, and whilst I am friendly and easy going, I am usually tired (!) so I will not have much time to devote to socialising with you. • You are responsible for paying for your own telephone, transportation, and English language tuition fees (although I am a qualified English teacher and will help you as and when I am able!) • Whilst the hours mentioned are unlikely to vary much, there must be some flexibility with these times according to my work commitments ie there will be occasions when you are required to put my daughter to bed. • Only long term applicants considered i.e. 6+ months.
