We live in Southend-On-Sea which is a seaside town in Essex about 40 miles from London. It is very popular at the weekends with visitors from London so has lots of tourist facilities like an aquarium centre and adventure theme park. There is a sailing and windsurfing centre, swimming lido and some sand! There is also a large theatre, libraries and museums. We have a 4 bedroom house which is opposite a lovely park with a duck pond, cricket pitch, tennis courts and a playground. A two minute walk the other way takes you to the seafront. The train station is 10 minutes’ walk and trains take 40 minutes direct to central London. Our family consists of me, mum- Ann. I have a busy physiotherapy business which has clinics in London and here in Southend. My three boys are Ben, 10 and Finn and Zac who are 4 year old twins. Their dad, Kwame who is originally from Ghana, West Africa lives and works in London and visits most weekends. My parents live 5 houses away and are often here to help out. The twins join their brother at big school in September which they are very much looking forward to. As a family we are very active and like being outdoors in the park, walking my parents dog, Molly who the boys love, or at the beach-summer and winter. The boys all do various sports after school and at weekends including gymnastics, football, swimming and tennis. The twins LOVE going out on their bikes and Ben is obsessed with football! It is a lively and busy household and the boys get on and play with one another really well. Ben is pleased the twins are now old enough to be proper play
We are looking for a bright and lively au pair who enjoys sports and the outdoors to keep up with the boys and their activities. The position would be for 35 hours a week. The current au pair attends English classes 3 times a week and I pay 50% of the fees. This could be arranged again at the local college if required. We do need someone who will be confident to drive in the UK You will have a large sunny room with a TV, WiFi and desk. The bathroom is shared. Regarding duties; Once the boys are at school I will need help in getting them ready in the morning and sharing the school run. After school I may need help getting them to different classes and then help with tea and bed time. Occasionally I have a meeting in London and would not be there for bedtime. If I am not there after the boys are asleep my parents usually come to babysit if necessary. Occasionally I would need you to do a few hours babysitting if both I and my parents are out. There would be light housework to do as well as generally keeping the place clean and tidy, doing the washing etc. During school holidays things would obviously be different and involve looking after the boys in the day, taking them on days out etc. I always try to take time off in the holidays to do things with them too. Until school starts in September the timetable will be slightly different. The twins will still go to nursery 3 mornings a week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and will need collecting and looking after on those afternoons. Until September on Thursday and Friday I have a nanny, Rebecca who looks after them all for the day and you would take over in the evening. Ben will often be going to various activities over the holidays and I will have some time off to be with everyone too. Please get in touch if you have any questions or wanted to meet the boys and me over skype.
