It is time for us to say farewell to our current au pair after her 6 month stay with us. We have had the pleasure of sharing our home with 2 wonderful au pairs over the last year and offer a loving, supportive and fun family environment. We live in Surrey Hills which is a leafy suburb 14km (30min) from the city of Melbourne. My husband and I have two girls, Scarlett who is 5 and Audrey who is 2 in Feb. we also have 2 cats (Sooty and Sweep). We are looking to host our new au pair for 6 months (until late August/early Sept2016). My husband works full time and I work 4 days a week, partly from home but with fortnightly interstate travel. Please note that you will not be required to work on Fridays or the weekends.
Au pair duties include helping to get breakfast, packing lunches, dropping Scarlett off and picking her up from school, any after school activities, getting the children snacks, general supervision and play (mainly with Audrey during the day). Scarlett is at school between 8:30am and 3:30pm so you will be looking after Audrey during the day. Audrey takes a nap (1hr) at lunchtime and has play group once a week (you will take her), Leaping Lizards class once a week (her grandmother takes her) and enjoys going to the library for story time. Driving the girls around is a significant requirement and we ask that you have an international drivers license and clean driving record. As a member of the household we ask that you assist with light household duties when possible (e.g. setting/clearing dinner table, emptying the dishwasher, assisting the children to tidy up their rooms and play areas). You are not expected to bathe the children, feed them dinner or prepare them for bed on a regular basis. Scarlett and Audrey are clever, cheeky, fun-loving and imaginative children. They enjoy playing games, singing and dancing, art and craft, swimming and riding their bikes/scooters. We are looking for an au pair who will engage them in active, creative and educational play (including introducing them to the French language as appropriate). Someone who is warm and patient and can comfort them in our absence. Generally our au pairs take on the role of an older sister. We are also looking for someone who is responsible, mature, clean, reliable and trustworthy. First Aid certification is preferred. Our Aupairs share our home and are provided their own bedroom with queen size bed and access to a bathroom in a separate living zone to the rest of the family bedrooms. We have a good size garden with lawn for the children to run about, a sandpit, cubby house, basketball ring and pool. We also have a number of playgrounds a short walk from us.
