Personal introduction

Hello! My name is Heather Miller and we are looking for an Au Pair to help take care of my brother, Justin! We will also need help with my 1 year old daughter! She is a happy, loving, energetic little girl! We are a fun, easy going, loving, silly family! Justin is in a wheelchair, but is very good at giving instructions on how to help take care of him. We're looking for someone very caring ,dependable, a quick learner, dedicated, and ready to become a big part of Justin's life! He has a great sense of humor, he loves Apple products (he works for Apple), video games, cooking, and hanging out with his friends. Nursing experience or personal care assistance/aid experience is a plus, but can also be learned. We want someone to feel like a part of the family!

The Au pair's job

My daughter is 1! She is a happy girl! She loves music, dancing, playing outside, going to the park, going for walks, and going shopping! Justin is 26 years old and he is in a wheelchair. He has a type of Muscular Dystrophy. His mind works as well as any able bodied person, but he need assistance with all day to day activities. The Au pair would help to take care of him when he isn't at work, isn't feeling well, or when his assistants are not here. We need someone kind, fun, honest and very DEPENDABLE. Someone that will stay calm and help Justin if he needs to go to the doctor or hospital. There will be times when he needs help with cooking, cleaning, showering, getting dressed, taking medication, using the restroom and shopping. We need someone that knows how to or will learn how to assist with his wheelchair, his lift to get him in and out of bed, and his special shower chair. Room and board included along with weekly allowance and time off to explore and travel. You would have your own room with a closet in a very nice, modern, new apartment right near the UConn (the University of Connecticut). You will be only a few hours away from Boston and New York. I personally live in Boston, but visit my brother in Connecticut very often and I am only 1 hour away driving. Your time will be 75-80% in Connecticut helping with Justin and 20-25% in Boston helping with the baby. Our mother is also only 40 minutes away driving. You can ask for time off to travel and you will also have time to yourself or to see friends when Justin is at work or has other assistants scheduled. Please send us a message if you are interested and want to learn more!
