We are a friendly German family (Sabine, Michael, Felix – 7 years, Hannah and Elena - 5 years) looking for a live-in au pair in order to take care of our children for approximately 22 - 25 hours/week (you will work less hours during the school term and more hours during the school holidays) Sabine is currently cross-qualifying in order to become an asylum solicitor in the UK. In order to concentrate on her studies, we would like you to help us looking after our children in the afternoons (after 3:30 pm) and during school holidays. Michael works rather long hours in the financial sector, which means that babysitting would be limited to once a week. Our three little explorers are fairly well-behaved. They love gardening, cycling and all kinds of other sports, drawing, collecting and making things as well as listening to stories. We moved back to London after living in India for almost three years and live now in the vibrant, multi-cultural neighbourhood of Stoke Newington/ Stamford Hill (N16). Stoke Newington is a great place to bring up children with lots of children's clubs, activities, and lots of other nannies and au pairs to make friends with. It is also a fun place for grown-ups with cafes, restaurants and plenty of green spaces. Stamford Hill is home of a large orthodox Jewish community, it has a village atmosphere but is close to the centre of London. Just down the road is super trendy Dalston and Shoreditch with its art scene and clubs.
This is a live-in au pair position for approximately 22 - 25 hours/week (you will work less hours during the school term and more hours during the school holidays). During term time you will usually work form 15:30 to 18:30. Your role would include supporting our children with their school homework, reading stories, singing songs, making music (motivating Felix to practice for his piano lessons), playing in the park and providing the children with a warm environment in which to play and grow. Your role would be primarily child care related. We're looking for an au pair who is committed, bright, happy, confident, and has a can-do attitude. Experience with children is preferable but not essential. Most importantly you must love children, be able to entertain them. We will offer you a stipend of 80 GBP per week and your own room with a double bed, wardrobe, desk and wireless internet access. It is a quiet and sunny room overlooking our garden. We want our au pair to feel part of the family, and also to experience living in London. You will have a lot of free time to get to know the city and we can help you to organise an internship in our children’s primary school (Simon Marks Jewish Primary School).
