We are an Italian-British family. I am from Florence and my husband, Aidan, is from London. We have two kids – Flavia nearly 8 years and Tancredi 5 – and we live in Florence, Italy. We are looking for someone caring, energetic, enthusiastic, and well organised to look after our kids and be welcome in our family! Ideal start date is October/November - for a minimum of 6 months. Flavia and Tancredi are in school most of the day, leaving you plenty of time to yourself to explore or do a course in the gorgeous city of Firenze. They are bilingual (our home language is English), but benefit from lots of practice in English! They love arts and crafts, cooking, and playing in our garden and in the playgrounds. Experience driving is an advantage - though not essential. We have had great experiences with au pairs since we moved to Italy 3 years ago, and are a warm and welcoming family! We would pay according to the recommended salary levels at the higher end), plus the monthly bus pass giving you freedom to explore Florence. You would have your own private room, wi-fi, and a TV/DVD player, and a shared bathroom on the second floor of our house - giving you some space of your own. We live in a house with a beautiful view overlooking Florence, and wonderful walks and woods on our doorstep. For the fit there are great cycling routes (we have a spare bicycle). It is about a 30 minute bus ride to the centre of Florence.
We are looking for someone energetic and enthusiastic who really enjoys being with kids. Someone who is able to be caring yet firm, earning their affection and respect, and who has good past experience looking after kids of a similar age. Flavia and Tancredi are kind and fun children – and active, and they have formed a close friendship with past au pairs. Your responsibilities would include: - playing with the kids in English - helping with English homework (or encouraging Flavia to do her Italian homework!) - sharing with us in cooking some of the meals - tidying up/getting kids to tidy up at the end of the day - some light housework (clearing away after meals / loading or unloading dishwasher, setting the table for breakfast in the evening). We have a cleaner who takes care of most of the housework. Flavia and Tancredi will attend school which runs from 8:30 until 4:30 pm in Tancredi’s case. Flavia also finishes at 4.30 3 days a week, and at 2:30 twice a week. So we’d like the au pair to pick up the children from school and and play with them in English for a couple of hours every afternoon until dinner time and help them with some English language homework a couple of times a week. Plus look after them in case they are off school sick or because of holidays. We would appreciate babysitting in the evening once or twice a week.
