We are a tight knit, relaxed, open ( yet somewhat traditional) family. We've had plenty of international experience having lived in the NY metro area for 10 years. I am in my 40s and work as an investment banker for a French firm in Mexico. My wife is in her mid/late 30s, she got her Bachelor's degree in education but has for many years been a stay at home mom and intends tfor this to continue. Our main goal is for our youngest kids to learn/practice English and we would expect you to help us accomplish this by becoming their friend and caretaker for a few hours every day. We would not require heavy house chores nor extended childcare hours as the kids are in school in the morning, they have various classes in the afternoon and my wife stays at home. Some flexibility in schedule would be greatly appreciated (for example taking care of the kids on our Friday couple nights out and perhaps some weekend childcare (this can be agreed amongst ourselves and we will be reasonable). Please feel free to ask any questions.
A few hours a day during weekdays caring for/playing with/chaperoning our two younger kids (3 and 8): perhaps helping for one hour in the morning to get them ready to school and then from around 2pm or 3pm through 7pm or 8pm (let's say between 5 to 7 hours a day during weekdays - to be negotiated). We may also appreciate some help on weekends, also to be discussed. We are eminently reasonable and we are sure a suitable schedule can be worked out (for example exchanging weekends for time during the week). Occasional travel and help during travel may be necessary, The key principles on our end are reasonableness, fairness and flexibility. We've had various au pairs over the years and we're able to have good experiences with all of them (we stay in touch with most of them to this day). Keep in mind you would seldom stay alone with the kids as they have various activities and my wife is a stay at home mom. You should also know that our older child (Daniela, 13) has Down's syndrome and autistic traits. You would not be expected to be her habitual caretaker (she has full time therapists and goes to school), but occasional help with her May be required from time to time. All of our kids are great, charming and quite easygoing.
