Hi! We would love to welcome a young ambitious person to our family. Yes, we are about 20 hours short of being complete but that is not the reason for seeking an Au pair - that is the triggering point. The main reason is to give our kids the opportunity to spend some time with a person of a different culture and introduce them to the english language. We also want to give the opportunity to someone to experience the Swedish way of life. And with that also share other experiences that might be useful in a young persons life. Our family consist of me, my wife, two kids and two dogs (golden retrievers). We live just outside Stockholm, close to a town called Vaxholm. Our house is overlooking a bay in the baltic and what we call the Archipelago. It is a neighborhood consisting of a lot of families with children. The kids school is a 5 min drive away and there activities are within a 20 min circle. There is a car for you to be used, but it is also very possible to move around by public transportation. I am a CEO and business owner of a Biotech Company with head office only 10 min from our house and close to the kids school, but i am also periodically traveling a lot. Which leaves my wife with all the burden of the household. My wife is working full-time as a CFO for an other company in the computer industry. We are a very active family and like to do all kinds of sports, running and hiking. Kids are in Soccer and Hockey. But the also love music and take some lessons.
You would not be expected to take over the parenting or work like a slave. Not at all. We don't even consider this as a normal job. You would be treated as a family member and expected to help out with family stuff. That is it. For an example - You would be expected to help out with some light household work and pick up the kids from school 2-3 times a week. he pick up days would also include feeding them :) It is probably good if you enjoy dogs and you would be from time to time expected to (like the rest of the family) help out with the dogs. It would be highly appreciated if you like to, once in a while, take the kids for the evening if we are engage in other activities. You should also be enjoying taking the kids to some of their activities.
