Personal introduction

We are looking for someone who is a cheerful, easygoing person who has a passion for exploring new places and someone who obviously loves children. We have preference for au pairs who speak fluent French as I would like my son, Jack, to learn French. Of course, you would have to have good knowledge of English as I can't speak French at all. We look forward to hearing from you! I am a single mother in my forties and I am a teacher. My son is Jackson and he will be 5 by the time we have an au pair. Jackson's father lives in town and is present in our lives. We also have a dog who is very calm and quiet and isn't bothersome. Jackson is a very energetic boy and loves to ride his bike and go for walks. He adores trains and fast cars - he is very much a boy! He has a very gentle personality and he makes everyone laugh tons. Jack has an older sister who will be au pairing in France at the same time that we have an au pair. Jackson, in September 2015, will start kindergarten at a French Immersion school so that is why we have preference for a French-speaking au pair. We live in a residential area in a house in Northern British Columbia. There are tons of trees here so if you like to be outdoors, this is the place to be! If not, it is a nice sized city of 80 000 people so you can get a taste of city life as well. We have an airport so flights get here easily and by car we are a 9 hour drive to Vancouver and a 4 hour drive to the BC/Alberta border.

The Au pair's job

It is crucial that you can drive! We only have one vehicle currently so you would need to wake up with the rest of the house to drive to school. We leave the house at 7.45 or 8.00 am. You would need to drive me to work and drop off Jackson at school. Jackson's school would end at 2.30 pm so you would need to pick him up and then pick myself up at around 3.45 pm. During the time when Jack is at school, you might be required to do some light housework (vacuuming, doing the dishes, etc) but you can also take classes at the local college or university if you wish. You would also have to prepare an evening meal from Monday to Friday as well as lunches for both myself and Jack during the week to take to school. You would have at least 2-3 nights free from Monday to Friday and weekends you would have free. Perhaps a Friday or Saturday night I will need you to babysit. You can borrow the car during the evening if you want to meet friends, etc. You would stay in a cozy room with a twin bed, a dresser, a variety of books, and your own newly renovated bathroom that has a shower, sink, mirror, etc. There is also a television with netflix and a variety of movies to share if you like just down the hall from the room.
