Our family includes mom (29), dad (31) and our two kids: a 4 year old girl and 1 year old boy. We live in a small town on Vancouver Island: one of the most beautiful parts of Canada. The weather is fabulous here... summers tend to be warm and sunny, and winters are very mild. There are lots of lakes to go swimming, the ocean and rivers are nearby and we are just 45 minutes away from the province's capital: Victoria. Everything you need shopping wise is available right here in our small town, and there's tons of outdoor activities to do. There's great hiking opportunities, swimming and tubing down the river, kayaking on the ocean, camping in the summer, skiing in the winter (2 hour drive), surfing in Tofino (4 hour drive) and lots of other fun activities. We’re about 3-4 hours away from Vancouver and Whistler, and those would be great places for you to visit as well! We’ve been in Canada for 5.5 years and we’re raising our kids bilingual (English & Dutch). We would love to find an au pair that adores kids... Our 4 year old is super social and affectionate, and she'll absolutely love hanging out with you. She's best friends with her baby brother, who is a very happy, 1 year old. They get along really well and they love playing outside, going to the park, doing crafts, reading books, and playing with friends.
We own our own business, and that means that we are quite busy during the week. We’re looking for an au pair to look after the kids about 30 hours a week (about 4 days for 5/6 hours, and 2/3 evenings) while mom & dad work. The au pair needs to be friendly but firm, love to play with the kids and take them outside lots. Some help with household chores will be expected as well. Most weekends we won't need care for the kids, and we'll definitely make sure you get at least 2 days in a row off every week. You’ll have your own bedroom and bathroom, access to wifi, and you’re welcome to use our bikes and car. There’ll be plenty of opportunities to explore the outdoors and the towns nearby. We’d love to show you around and take you places, but there will also be lots of free time for you to explore this beautiful part of the world by yourself. Start time ASAP, preferably by July of 2014. We'd prefer someone that can commit to staying at least for 6-12 months. We are looking for an au pair that loves playing with kids and that is looking to become part of our family for a while. Please make sure that you have a permit to work in Canada or a Working Holiday Visa. If you are from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Sweden or Denmark Working Holiday Visas are currently still available for 2014, so feel free to contact us if you still need to apply, but visas are still available.
