I am a 35 years old man with two children - a boy Lapo who is 4 years old, and a girl Liv who is 8 months old. I am Italian but left Italy when I was 21 years old. I work as an engineer and a consultant. My beloved 37 years old Swedish wife tragically died of a heart attack in May while I was abroad. During this episode my babygirl also risked to die of dehydration. I drive the children to kindergarten in the morning by 8-9 o'clock and spend the rest of the day at the office. At about 5 o'clock, the children need to be picked up. I would need the au pair to use public transport and pick the kids up from the kindergarten to home, where I arrive at about 7.00 pm. I am a very hands on father and am not trying to delegate fatherhood in bulk. All cleaning in the house is taken care of, as well as the purchasing of supplies at the supermarket. I am just trying to find a person who can spend two to three hours a day with my kids and talk in Swedish with them. I give the kids to eat in the evening and I put them to bed. In the winter, the children may get sick (in reality much less since I started vaccinating them) and I would need a person at home if the children cannot go to kindergarten. Throughout the weekend, I take care of the children. Both children are very intelligent, respectful and well behaved. We live in a 110 SQM apartment close to two parks.
The au-pair's job is to use public transport to pick the children from kindergarten in the afternoon at about 5.00 pm and take them home. She must not cook, nor must she put the kids to bed as this is the task of their father. She looks after the children when sick. This is actually less likely since I started vaccinating the kids, but it may happen that the kids cannot go to kindergarten for a few days in a row (once or twice during the year only). She may take the kids to their doctors appointments if these are not in the morning or at lunchtime (most pediatric care appointments are generally at these times and the father takes care of them anyhow since he wants to talk to the healthcare provider). We are looking for an honest and open relationship. If things get broken, it is OK, but it is important to say so. She must call for assistance to a network of friends and family members in case of injury or accident to the father (i.e., car accident), who is alone in the country. She can call the father on his cellpohne for any problem she encounters during the day. She should talk in Swedish to the children. We are overall a happy and easy going family and would like to have a person with a friendly attitude and generous smile. We are looking for a friendly au-pair with a strong Swedish culture. No smoking nor heavy drinking please.
