Hi, Myself and my husband Matti Lehtimäki live with our 4 year old son in countryside in a town called Laihia in Western Finland (Pohjanmaa). Our son is a fun loving child and loves to play with all kind of stuff. He plays a lot in kitchen, plays "cleaning" and "vacuuming", plays with legos and all kind of stuff. Our house is filled with toys :D. We look forward to welcoming you into our family and house to have this cultural exchange. My husband has traveled to 50+ countries. And I have traveled to 30+ countries. We are open to different cultures, food, languages, manners and learn from Au pair. Myself and my husband are both Electrical and Electronics engineers who are able to do some days of remote work and we would like to have Au pair to look after our child while we are working, play with him, feed him, clean him up. Au pair working hours will not be more than 6,5 hours per day from Monday to Friday. Weekday evenings, Saturday and Sunday will be free times. Au Pair can choose what they would like to do with this free time. Au Pair is welcome to spend it with us as a equal part of our family or if she wants to spend time in hobbies or exploring around here. We live in the countryside in Finland, it’s easy to go for long walks in open field and forest paths from here. We have four seasons here, long sunny summer days, colorful autumn, snowy winters, quick blooming spring. The house is old farm house but it is renovated and modern inside. It has central heating and it is warm. We have two saunas, one in the house and one outdoor. My husband and myself have one child who is four years old in April 2025. Preferable starting month is September 2025 for a minimum duration of 11 months. We will be able to provide a separate bedroom of 20sq. meter for Au pair which has bed, clothes cabinets, laptop desk with chair, unlimited free Wi-Fi access inside the house, Finnish SIM card with unlimited data inside Finland, 27" 4K monitor in the room. The bathroom is just next to the room which Au pair will use. We have a second car which the Au pair can use. My husbands mother tongue is Finnish, speaks English and very little Spanish & Swedish. He speaks in Finnish language with our son and I speak in English language with my son. Myself and my husband communicate in English. So, at home primary language is English. If you do not like the food we cook, we can buy the food ingredients which are available in local shops for you, so that you can prepare the food that you would like. We believe in gentle parenting methods and positive behavior encouragement by giving attention to the child via play or activities and having our son do similar stuff what we do and which is safe for him.
30 hours / week and 5 days a week the Au pair will need to be with our son. Finnish Public holidays are free days for Au Pair too. Vacation will be of 20 workdays for every 12 months of work. We pay 400€/month pocket money. Typically you do not need to pay any taxes, just need to be registered at Tax office in Finland after your arrival. We will pay reasonable travel expenses such as for flights. Due to difficulties to get work permission to Finland, we require Au Pair holding existing valid Finnish work permit or Schengen / European Union passport.
