We are a warm and open-minded family of three (plus a friendly small family dog Pooh) living in a quiet town in western Germany. We love spending time together, enjoying nature, traveling, and discovering new cultures. As a host family, we believe in treating our Au Pair as part of the family and offering a meaningful cultural exchange. We are looking for a kind, responsible, and cheerful person who enjoys spending time with children and is open to new experiences. It’s important to us that you feel welcome, supported, and comfortable in our home. Some basic German skills and a driver’s licence are required, as you’ll be helping with childcare and occasional driving. If you’re curious, caring, and ready for a year full of fun and cultural discovery – we’d love to meet you!
We value a close, friendly relationship with our Au Pair and want you to feel truly at home with us. The main task will be caring for our 5-year-old daughter. Getting Laura ready in the morning and taking her to primary school is typically a shared duty between the Au Pair and us parents. The Au Pair's responsibility is to pick her up from primary school and spend the afternoon playing, reading, or doing creative activities with her. On two days a week, you’ll care for her full-time and help with some light cooking and tidying. On the remaining days, you’ll have plenty of free time. A driver’s license is required for occasional driving – the elementary school is within walking distance, but some hobbies like horseback riding or music school require using the car. We kindly ask our Au Pair to occasionally take our friendly little family dog Pooh for a walk. Some basic German skills are required, as Laura currently does not speak English. To support German learning beyond daily family life, our Au Pairs have attended language classes in the local adult education centers ("Volkshochschule"), which are located in the center of Gevelsberg and in the neighbor town Hagen. During school holidays, when the local education centers are closed, we usually arrange online courses so the Au Pair can continue learning German. Note: Although the platform shows “average” housework, we do not expect any general household tasks. Simply tidying up what you and our daughter have used during your time together, and keeping your own apartment clean.
