Hello! We are a family with three children of 14, 12 and 10 years old. We live in a house with a garden in a very quiet neighborhood 15 minutes walk from the city center of Girona (Catalunya), a very, very beautiful city of about 100,000 inhabitants. We have never had experience with an aupair and we would like to get started. We think it is an opportunity to meet someone from another country, welcome them into our home, so that the children can reinforce their English by sharing activities and time. We prioritize Canada because in the future we would like to stay with the children in this country, and thus we can learn more about the culture. I am a nursing professor at the University of Girona and my husband is a social worker. In 2018 we lived for 4 months in Canada and it was a wonderful experience, which we would like to repeat. At home we speak Catalan, which is our native language. But we can spend some time in Spanish if we want to reinforce the language, since we adults speak it well. We also speak English and French. The family also has Toush, who is a shepherd cross dog who is very good. We really like nature and being with family. We have a very large family, with grandparents, uncles, nephews who live nearby, with whom we share a lot of time. We would like to find a good person who wants to have a nice experience with a family from Girona with 3 children who have a lot of energy but are good and polite, and eager to learn and meet new people. WE ARE LOOKING FOR AUPAIR TO START FROM JULY 14 UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST OR SEPTEMBER, DEPENDS ON AVAILABILITY. MAINLY WE WILL BE IN OUR HOUSE IN GIRONA, BUT FOR 3 WEEKS IN AUGUST WE WILL GO TO A FAMILY HOUSE, WHERE WE SPEND THE HOLIDAYS WITH UNCLE AND COUSINS IN A VILLAGE ON THE COSTA BRAVA AND A PLACE SURROUNDED BY NATURE.
We would like the aupair to accompany the children walking to school and extracurricular activities (which are close to home), to be able to converse a lot in English and French..., and also to really like to play with them (rugby, soccer, basketball , walking, walking Toush, jumping on the trampoline, board games), help with schoolwork and could dedicate time to teaching or reinforcing the language and teaching English/French classes to help them with school subjects. The housework would be the same as what we and the children do. We have a girl who comes two days a week to help us with more thorough cleaning, but when it comes to cooking, loading and unloading washing machines, clearing the table, keeping the room tidy, we do it together and it is what we would also expect from the aupair, as if she were one more.
