Personal introduction

We are looking for an au pair to look after our two year old son, Wilbur. He previously had a lovely nanny, so he is used to having someone else to look after him. We would be very happy to provide references from that nanny if you would like, or we can provide her contact details. As we have just spent two years in Madrid, a Spanish speaking au pair with knowledge of English would be ideal. Wilburs father speaks Spanish. The main reason we have chosen the au pair option, rather than a nursery, is that we are thinking of this very much as a cultural exchange. We want Wilbur to continue to be exposed to Spanish language and culture, and we hope we can help our au pair learn more about British culture in return. You would be living in central Weybridge, close to both the excitement of London, which is half and hour by train, and also the beautiful Surrey countryside. Weybridge is a lovely town with plenty of bars and restaurants. There are at least two English language training centres as well as a library, so there would be plenty of opportunities to study if you wanted to. It is a popular area for families commuting into London for work, so there would be a good network of other au pairs and nannies to meet. We live in a large house and you would have a private room with en suite facilities - both toilet and shower.

The Au pair's job

You would have Fridays off as well as weekends. Though there would be occasional babysitting requirements on those days. In terms of general responsibilities, these would be... - General care....getting Wilbur dressed, playing with him, preparing his meals etc - Taking to a daily playgroup, looking after him before and afterwards. He is very sociable, so loves going outside to meet people - Light housework, though only tidying up after meal and play times as we employ a cleaner separately. Wilbur wakes at seven in the morning and you would look after him until six in the evening, though this includes a three hour break when he is at playgroup and he normally naps for one to two hours in the afternoon.
