Personal introduction

We live in Landsborough, which is a suburb in the Sunshine Coast (Queensland, Australia). Landsborough is well positioned between the hinterland (15 minute drive) and the beach (25 minute drive). We are close (5-10 minute walk) to public transport with a train and bus stop nearby. In our house we have three pets (two cats and one dog); our cats are indoor cats and our dog is an outdoor dog. We love our animals! We are a vegatarian family though I would like to transition vegan and would welcome a vegan into our home with open arms. Steve and I have Grace together, and he has two other children - Kaydn (age 21) and Chloe (age 13). One of the photos included is of Grace and her brother Kaydn. Grace adores both her siblings and loves that Kaydn lives with us. We hope that 2020 will be a much for fun year with more quality family time e.g. trips to the beach, picnics, bush walks.

The Au pair's job

Steve and I both work, and Grace starts year 1 in 2020. I work early in the morning (about 6.30am till 3pm) and pick Grace up from the bus about 3.20pm after school Steve gets her organised in the morning and drops her to the bus on his way to work about 7.45am. We both have stressful jobs and lots of hours and responsibility and often feel time-poor and struggle to keep on top of household responsibilities and chores and spend time with Grace. Our hope is that by having an au pair it will significantly help our family. We would love the au pair to be a friend or like a big sister to Grace, being available to play with her when we're working, cleaning, cooking or otherwise busy - and being willing to assist with cooking and cleaning etc at times so we can just play with her and spend quality time with her. We want Grace to start learning how to clean up after herself and keep her room tidy, so we don't expect the au pair to do those things for her but we would very much like someone who can teach her, assist, encourage her and be patient with her. We try to role model the values we want her to have and therefore it would be important that our au pair has similar values. While there are lots of values that are important there are two values that stand out perhaps more than others: kindness and compassion to all iving beings, and honesty and integrity. I am extremely close with my family and we would welcome the au pair to be part of our family as much as they would like. We would also respect your need for privacy and alone time. Grace is VERY energetic and always wants to play. We are also really trying to minimise her screen time and want to encourage her creativity. For this reason we definitely need someone who has quite a bit of energy! Grace currently does swimming lessons once per week and will be starting dance (acrobatics) and/or soccer (known as football nearly everywhere except Australia I think) next year. I would typically want to take Grace to those activities though the au pair would be welcome to come. There may be times when Steve and I are required to travel for work and during those period we would appreciate flexibility and extra assistance with getting ready in the morning, or picking up/babysitting after school.
