Hello I am a single parent who has spent the last three years at home raising my daughter. I soon will go back to work full time (as a research scientist) and I am looking for someone understanding, caring, nurturing and fun to care for my daughter both before and after school. My hours at work are likely to be unpredictable and some days very long so flexibility in an au pair is a must. I am easygoing in nature and I like to think compassionate and fun. My daughter is my absolute world and if she's happy I'm happy. I love cooking, baking, reading and spending time outside. This is not a tee total house - often friends will pop round for a glass of wine and I find this a great way to relax and catch up. My daughter is very bright, chatty, outgoing and funny but also very sensitive. The transition from me being at home to at work will need handling with care and understanding. She loves role playing, arts and crafts and playing outside. She is full of love and if you are engaging she will engage in return! We have a very large dog (a newfoundland) so it is imperative that you like dogs, are happy to walk her and don't mind dog hair getting everywhere! Most weekends you would not be expected to do any childcare apart from the odd stint of baby sitting in the evening and maybe for a couple of hours for me to nip into work if needed or to get to the gym (but really this would only be if you didn't have plans!). We live in a lovely area of Birmingham with good transport links and shops close by. If you like walking there is a large parkland to explore near by. We spend our weekends normally at home playing in the garden and/or walking and perhaps going out for lunch. You would always be welcome to join us. We currently live in a large house with plenty of room. I would prefer someone with a good level of English language. You would not need to drive due to location but you must be happy to walk. We would work out an arrangement for instances where further travel is required.
Getting daughter ready for school. Taking daughter to school. Collecting daughter from school everyday except one day a week. Taking daughter to local after school activities. Helping daughter with homework where possible. Giving daughter breakfast and evening meal. Putting daughter to bed one night a week and possibly when babysitting. Looking after daughter during school holidays when required (this wouldn't be every holiday) Walking family dog once a day. Some housework - cleaning kitchen, main bathroom and communal areas. Tidying daughters bedroom and play room. Ensuring toys are put away from other rooms in evenings. Picking up some items from local shops as and when required. Helping out with cooking as and when required (I'd anticipate apart from making my daughters meals that this would be minimal and/or only if you really love cooking and want to help more often).
