We are a quiet, loving professional and Christian family of Greek origin with two little girls in St Albans, Hertfordshire. We love being outdoors in all kinds of weather, hiking, gardening and lots of park visits! The girls are very energetic, animated and loving. They enjoy music, ballet, reading books, artwork, baking and lots of outdoor activities. We are experienced with au pairs and always welcome them into our home with the greatest respect, consideration and kindness. We have had a lovely au pair plus for the past 4 years who is now moving on to new projects. We would like someone for this position mid-August, 2018. Our eldest daughter is currently 6 years old and the youngest is 4 years old. We are looking for a cheerful, hard-working and flexible person who is willing to help out with housework and childcare. You will need to have at a good level of English. You must be available to attend a face-to-face or skype interview. You will be 20 years or over and should have at least 1 year of childcare experience, whether of your own children or in a professional capacity as a child-carer. You must have a real interest in child development and a love of children. You must be creative and willing to stimulate children (they don’t watch TV). A kind, loving and patient nature is a must and you should be able to discipline the children when needed. You should have at least 2 excellent contactable references (childcare related or other work references). You will be a non-smoker. We are looking for someone who is tidy, diligent and discreet with a good work ethic, and ‘can do’ attitude. You must be willing to follow instructions and be confident in managing a range of household chores and cooking on a daily basis.
WE ARE LOOKING EITHER FOR AN AU PAIR OR AN AU PAIR / HOUSEKEEPER AU PAIR (£370-500 PER MONTH) Your will be a childminder for our 2 daughters. Duties will be to keep them fed, clean, happy and safe, and to organise educational and recreational activities for them. This will include helping with school work and other educational activities. Both children will be in school full-time. Hours will be 7:30-11:30am and 3:00-4:30pm, occasionally until 5pm. Evening weekday babysitting will be only very occasionally required –when the mother has parents’ evenings at school as she is a teacher. If any further babysitting is required, it will be negotiated with you in advance and paid at £8/hour. During school term holidays the hours are reduced to 4 hrs a day, 8:00am – 12:00pm as the mother will be at home. You will also be doing some light house-work (washing up, keeping kitchen tidy, putting away supermarket delivery, hoovering downstairs, loading washing machine and dryer and folding clothes). We try to eat natural, healthy food which we cook ourselves. If you are happy to take on some extra cooking / baking we can offer the higher rate of £500 per month. We will provide simple recipes and guidance! This is a long-term position and we would like someone who can commit to at least a year or more. AU PAIR PLUS / HOUSEKEEPER (£700-800 per month) This is a dual role: housekeeper and childminder. Your will be a childminder for our 2 daughters. Duties will be to keep them fed, clean, happy and safe, and to organise educational and recreational activities for them. This will include helping with school work and other educational activities. Both children will be in school full-time and you will be in charge of the school run. Evening babysitting will be only very occasionally required (maximum 12 evenings a year) –when the mother has parents’ evenings at school as she is a teacher. If any further babysitting is required, it will be negotiated with you in advance and paid at an hourly rate of £8/hour. Hours during term-time when mother is at work: 7:30am to 1:00pm and 3:00pm to 4:30pm on most evenings. Finishing at 5:10pm very occasionally when mother has a meeting at school. When mother is on school holidays, you will only be working 5 hours a day – 8am to 1:00pm You will be in charge of the housekeeping and cooking on a daily basis. This will include laundry, folding away clothes, ironing, washing up, keeping floors and surfaces clean, cooking breakfast and lunch and some treats / snacks. In addition, you need to be flexible and be willing to take on various chores as they crop up, according to the family’s needs. This is a long-term position and we would like someone who can commit to at least a year or more. Benefits (Au Pair or Au Pair Plus / Housekeeper) -20 days paid holiday a year plus all bank holidays (28 days in total) -all your meals will be provided for, as well as all utility bills will be covered -you will have a comfortable room with your own wardrobe, a large bookcase/chest of drawers and a small desk. -you will have your own television and your own laptop with internet access and you will be living in our 3 bedroom home with a pleasant garden. -free bus travel pass for outside of London (Counties) – this can take up to a couple of months to get issued -use of an iphone with a mobile number for the duration of your stay with us -free weekends and (most) evenings Area backround St Albans is a picturesque, historic town with a vibrant café and restaurant scene, an impressive market twice a week and excellent train links to central London (usually a 35 minute journey) – the train station is within walking distance of our home or a 5 minute bus ride away. There are also excellent local colleges such as Oaklands College which can provide English classes. As both my husband and myself are English teachers, we are happy to provide English language textbooks and resources as well as some support if you wish to improve your English. We want a loving and responsible person who can take care of our precious little girls. We would like someone who is open-minded, cheerful, cooperative, reliable and healthy. We are looking for a person who is willing to follow instructions and discuss daily issues in a mature and calm manner. Qualifications would be nice, but are not essential.
