Personal introduction

Hi! We are a fun family of 4 plus 1 cat. We would love to welcome you into our home in Binfield, Berkshire, England, 1 hour from London, to care for our 2 girls, aged 11 and 9. If you are happy, fun, organised, clean and tidy and good at playing and helping with homework, come join us...!

The Au pair's job

Hello! We need someone to join us in August when our current au pair will be returning home. We would ask that you commit to stay for at least 6-9 months and hopefully longer?! We have 2 daughters, Georgina (11) and Hermione (9). We (Sarah and Jeremy) are busy, working parents, who have enjoyed welcoming au pairs into our home for the last 8 years or so. We love our au pairs to be a part of the family; to be confident with the girls and make them feel safe. If you can laugh with them, and have fun, they will be delighted. But they will also need someone to help with their homework, tidy up after them (hopefully, with them) and generally do some of the less fun stuff! The role will require you to be in the kitchen, dressed and ready for breakfast with the girls by 7.00. You will need to have their packed lunches made and their school bags packed by 8.15 when you all leave for school. Georgina will walk for her bus. You and Hermione will have a 1 mile walk. Hermione's school whistle goes at 8.40 by which time she needs to be in line in the school playground. Once you are home again, probably around 9.00, there will be some general tidying round and putting away. Sometimes, I will ask you to vacuum or do some ironing. Also, I will ask you to clean your bedroom and bathroom at least once a week. We are a mainly veggie household (strict on fruit and veg being eaten) but the girls eat meat and fish sometimes. You will need to pick the Hermione from school at 3.15. Once you are home, there will be dinner to make and homework and music practice (guitar and piano). Sometimes there are pre-planned after school activities. Jeremy or I will be home by 5.30-6. You are then off duty. During non-term time there is loads of time for more fun! Crafts, garden games, cinema, ice skating, day trips. You will have most Wednesdays off and of course the weekends. Otherwise, on a normal school day, the day is your own whilst the girls are at school - watch TV, go for a run/to the gym/go out shopping for the day.... Some of our au pairs spend the weekends away (we live close to the train station and not far from Heathrow), take trips or visit friends. You choose how much time to spend with us. As much/little as you like.
