Personal introduction

I am a classical musician, and my wife is a history teacher. We have two children. The eldest is will start school in September, and the youngest is at nursery. We also have a cat. We are looking for an organised, conscientious au pair who loves children and will help us take care of them on working days. We live in a lovely house in Beckenham - a very attractive area of South-East London, located in Zone 4 of the Transport for London map. Our property is located very centrally, close to the thriving High Street, which has many coffee shops, and branches of Waitrose and Marks and Spencer, as well as some boutique shops and all the necessary amenities (Post Office, banks, Sainsburys, Tesco). We are just two minutes’ walk from a cinema. There is a small NHS hospital within ten minutes walk of our house which offers urgent care, and two GP surgeries are run from the same building. There are several excellent parks locally . We live seven minutes’ walk from Beckenham Junction station (about 20 minutes to London Victoria and 10 minutes to Bromley, which has a large shopping centre), and about ten minutes from Clock House (25 minutes to London Bridge, 30 to London Charing Cross). There are also many bus routes, some of which stop outside our door. We have recently had our loft converted to create two extra bedrooms and a bathroom. One of these bedrooms (with a lovely view) will be for the au pair, and the bathroom is also for the au pair, but will be very occasionally shared with guests staying in the other bedroom. There are language schools nearby.

The Au pair's job

Readying the children for nursery/school in the morning, giving our elder daughter breakfast and taking her to school; picking up our elder daughter in the afternoon and looking after her between end of school and parent arriving home, including giving her tea. Occasionally also taking younger daughter to/from nursery, though we will do this ourselves except when one of us is away for work. Occasional evening babysitting. Likely hours will be 7-9am and 3.15-6pm Monday to Friday, with 2 evenings of baby sitting. We can offer £100/wk pocket money, plus a small contribution towards language tuition, and lifts to/from airport.
