We have had au pairs for many years and very much endorse the concept. We keep in touch with many of our former au-pairs. We are looking for a charming young lady who is open-minded, problem solving and shows initiative. We have in mind someone who is more of a teacher (homework supervision) and not a cleaning lady (we already have a cleaner!). We live in a semi-detached home in a nice residential area in Basel. The house is decorated in an international fashion. You would share a bathroom with the children. You would have your own room on the ground floor approx. 15 m2 . The aupair is not expected to work on the weekends.
Our kids attend a bilingual School where half of the lessons are taught in German and half in English. We therefore need an au-pair with English skills and basic German skills at a minimum. The children are in school from 8.15-16.00 all days except on Wednesday when they finish at 12:30. School is about 15 minutes away by tram. The aupair will have free time for a language course every day except Wednesdays from ca. 9:00 until 15:00. Wednesday mornings can also be used for the language course. Weekends are spent mostly with the children and with friends; cooking, gardening, playing and exploring.
