We currently live in Galway, on the west coast of Ireland, together with our 4.5-year-old and our 2-year old daughters. I am Romanian and my husband is American. We lived in the US until July 2017, when we moved to Galway for my husband’s job at the university. We will be here until July 2019. We spend our spare time getting together with friends, going out in the town, and engaging in a multitude of outdoor activities. We like to go for walks and hikes with our daughters, as well as to the beaches in Galway and walk the promenade. We also enjoy eating healthy, and fruits and veggies are always found in our household. We love ice cream too, which has become a Sunday afternoon tradition. Galway is a vibrant tourist city, with three universities and many things to do and see. The center is always busy with tourists and street performers. There is a fun Christmas market taking place in downtown right now. We are always surrounded by many young people and tourists. Galway is also a great starting point for the many visiting attractions in Ireland - highest sea cliffs in Europe, medieval castles, and parks. The language spoken here is English.
Daily activities include caring for our daughters, taking them to school, playing with them, taking them to kids’ activities, parks, and playdates, and helping us with laundry and preparing meals. It is important that the language spoken with our kids is Romanian so that they learn and perfect the language. We would like the au pair to be part of the family and enjoy meals and outings together.
