Must have a valid visa or be an EEC member with right to remain in UK. Hello, We are the Green family and we live in the South West of England in the lovely County town of Taunton in Somerset. We are looking for an au pair to join our family in February or March 2020 ideally for 3-6 months. We have been hosting au pairs and Erasmus students since April 2017. Our house is located by a little park and just a 5 minute walk to the local shops and post office. Taunton is a beautiful town and a popular destination for holiday makers all year round. We are surrounded by beautiful countryside and you can easily take a train to the beach in the Summer. Taunton is a rural town but has everything you need. Theatre, restaurants, parks even the county cricket ground! The cities of Exeter and Bristol are easy to reach on the train on your days off. My children only know English but I speak reasonable French, Russian and basic Arabic. My husband speaks a little Arabic and some Spanish, although he works away most of the year. We would prefer an au pair to stay 6 months because it can be quite disruptive for the children each time a new au pair arrives. They get very attached to the au pair and are often sad when they have to leave so I would prefer it if you could stay longer. Staying longer also gives you the opportunity to explore more, see the area and make the most of your time here. About us We live in the North of Taunton about a 30min walk from the town center (with kids!!) or 20mins for an adult but we have a bus that passes by our house and you can also use our bikes Our nanny will have access to a car Monday - Friday and will need a drivers licence. We also have two small dogs (poochons) so an animals lover is a must as they are part of our family too!!
Expectations You would be responsible for taking the children to school at 8.30am and collecting them from school at 3.15pm. I would like the au pair to take the children to ballet on Tuesday and Thursday. Monday, Wednesday and Friday the au pair just needs to collect from school and bring home. You would help around the house by sharing some of the daily duties with me. Light cleaning, hoovering and some light cooking for the children or maybe helping walk the dogs. You would take care of washing your clothes and bedding and keeping your room neat (there is a shared bathroom and two toilets in the house, you will have your own room with a TV). You would have the use of a car (manual not automatic!!) during the day and to take the children to school and ballet. You will have weekends free but may be required to do occasional babysitting on a Saturday night, you would be given plenty of notice. Once your morning duties are completed you have much of the day free to explore the area. You can also enrol with an English language tutor who also works at our local Bridgwater and Taunton College, we also have access to two free English language groups each week. I always try to always be home by 6pm so most evenings you can enjoy your free time.
