Personal introduction

We pare a married couple with 2 small children. My husband is a barrister, and I was a solicitor before giving up my practice to have children. Our daughter is 3.5yrs and goes to nursery three mornings a week. She will be starting full time school next September. Our son is 2.5yrs and is also at nursery three mornings a week, he will do more nursery time in the new year to prepare him for school the following year as he is a little shy and not quite as confident a son our daughter. Our daughter also does Ballet, Modern and Tap dancing in the week. I have started a charity project focussing on Homelessness in and around London, as we are only 1hr from London by car or train, and it is taking up more and more of my time. I would like to be able to dedicate more time to the project. We do not have a lot of family. My sister is in Australia, my parents live approximately 5hrs away and my husbands parents live approximately 2 hours away, so there's very little assistance or involvement from anyone else. We live in a very charming, friendly and welcoming village just outside Bury St Edmunds. Approximately 15 mins away is Ipswich City Centre, which has a university and various colleges. Bury at Edmunds is a beautiful old town with some fantastic shops, boutiques and restaurants. (EMAIL ADDRESS DELETED)

The Au pair's job

We require some help with school runs/pick ups and some assistance with juggling the clubs and activities. For example, our daughter has a Tap Class on a Monday at 5pm, which is when our son usually has his dinner, tap lesson is for 1hr 15mins and he gets so bored waiting around, which the. Has a knock on effect because he gets tired and crabby when I do try to feed him, so it would be helpful to keep our son at home and in his routine, and take our daughter to the lesson separately! It's not rocket science, i just can't physically be in two places at once and my husband work schedule is quite demanding so it's often just me and the kids :-). As for house work, I a, able to keep on top of most of it. We have a large house 6 bedrooms and here bathrooms, one of which would be yours and is quite separate (although you could choose which worked best for you). I may require some basic house,Epping (hoovering, dusting, clothes washing) cooking I can manage! We have two Pugs and you would be welcome walk them...although you're not likely to get far, they're quite lazy and prefer to snuggle up on the couch or by the AGA. We have around 2acres, so I usually let them out to play in the garden. It would be helpful to just have an extra pair of hands/eyes sometimes! Your evenings would be your own, and your weekends two with the exception of maybe every other Saturday evening so that my husband and I could actually go out to eat together! You would have full use of a car and of course we would happily pay for you to come on our family holidays if you wished to. We have never had an au pair before so this is all very new for us. We are a very friendly, flexible and understanding family. We do not have a very strict outlook or routine. We are looking for someone to become part of our family, for as long as they are able to commit to.
