About us: We are both doctors by profession, working in the NHS as Specialists for over 14 years. Our daughter is 6 yrs of age and attends primary school. She is playful, social and quite independent. We are a peace loving and friendly small family. We live within 10 minutes walk from the beach, in a 4 bedded home. Dear au pair: We are looking to welcome a live-in au pair to our family. We live in Worthing, a quaint seaside town in south-east England. Worthing is well connected to London, with 2 direct trains every hour and a journey time of less than 90 minutes. It offers local English courses at several institutions as well as in Brighton, a popular seaside city within easy reach. The post is available immediately, for duration of 6 months minimum. What you can expect from us: We are a friendly and welcoming family, living in the UK for over 14 years. You will be provided with a separate furnished bedroom, with a working desk and other essential furniture. You will have a bathroom for exclusive use (not en-suite). Unlimited Wi-fi connection and other amenities will be provided. We are flexible and would work around your needs for attending courses etc for most days of the week. We will invite you to join us for short excursions / holiday breaks within the UK. You will have access to the kitchen and we can provide you with the raw materials for you to prepare your food. We are non-vegetarian Hindus, therefore do not take beef or pork at home. Our expectations from you: The applicant should be friendly and willing to mingle with the family. We are essentially looking for someone to lend us a hand with the day to day running of the household and care of the child.
Over a 5 working day week: Our day starts at 7 AM. We do need assistance with preparing breakfast and helping with tidying up the beds and the living area in the morning. We all leave for work / school by 0830-0900. This will leave you free to attend any courses etc during the day. One of us is at home between Tuesday and Thursday, allowing you even more flexibility. We require your assistance in school pick up on Friday afternoons and alternate Monday afternoons (i.e 6 afternoons a month). On these days, the child will need to be supervised after school until we arrive. On Monday and Friday, we usually return by 1730. In the evenings, our daughter does her homework/ study with me and then has a playtime /extracurricular activities. We will need assistance with setting the table for lunch (when you are at home) and dinner and then clearing up, but we will be doing this together. It's what you would do at your home anyway. We will need a hand in cutting and washing of vegetables while preparing lunch/dinner, 2-3 times a week. We do expect a hand with ironing of the child clothes from time to time. Occasionally, we may require your help with childcare in the evening if we have to attend official meetings or social gatherings. You are NOT expected to clean toilets, kitchen, clear the bins, scrub floors or do any heavy household work whatsoever. On Saturday and Sunday, you are free. However, if you did stay back at home, we would expect you to mingle with us and help with the odd job here and there, like you would do in your own family.
