We are a happy, busy family of four, living in Streatham, Southwest London (20 minutes by train to central London). My husband and I are looking for an au pair who has experience looking after children, speaks English well, has a driver's licence (more than 12 months) and is between 20-26 years of age. We would ideally like our au pair to start in the first week of August so that she has a month to get to know our children before they are back at school. We have had 3 previous au pairs that have worked out well and sadly our current au pair, who has been with us for 2 years, is leaving to become a teaching in a local school. We are a very organised family and have a detailed 'handbook' setting out your role to help you take on your responsibilities and so that you know what to expect from us. My husband and I both work and the main reason that we have an au pair is to take care of our two children when we are working. Our time with our children is precious, so it is important for us that our au pair is flexible, enthusiastic, patient, and most importantly, genuinely enjoy working with our children. Supporting our children with their education is important so this position is ideally suited to someone who has a desire to work in education/become a teacher. We are a family of 4 with a daughter, Amelia, who is 10 and a son, Charlie, who is 7. Both of our children go to school full time from about 8.15-3.45pm.
Your role is to do everything that is needed to support the children. For example, organise their school uniforms, school bags, take them to school & pick them up again, cook their meals, tidy their rooms, organise the playroom, help them do their homework, bath and bedtime routines etc. We keep our home clean and tidy and have a cleaner once a week. Your role includes light cleaning duties such as washing and folding laundry, unstacking the dishwasher, unpacking groceries, taking the kitchen bins out and cleaning your room. Your day will start at 7am helping the children prepare for school and finish between 7.00-7.30pm. There is plenty of free time during day while the children are at school for you to have free time. You will be required to drive our car to take the children to school and take them to their daily activities. We require you to do a maximum of 8 nights babysitting per month, of which one a week might be on a Friday or Saturday night. Some weeks will be busier than others with more than 2 nights babysitting and some will be very quiet with no babysitting. We don’t usually go out on a Saturday night and most babysitting is during the week due to work commitments. You will have your own bedroom inside the house with your own bathroom and TV. Your room has a mini fridge, microwave and kettle. We have broadband wi-fi at home, which you are free to use with your own computer/laptop/iPad/smartphone. Our approach to an au pair is friendly and relaxed and if you have a problem, please come and talk to us.
