Personal introduction
Dear future host family,
My name is Mayko Dayanti Arung, and I am 18 years old. I am from Indonesia. I have always loved children, and I have been helping my mom take care of my little sister since I was 7 years old. I grew up with her, teaching her small things, help her with her homework and much more. Now she is 11 years old. Currently, I am also taking care of my little brother, who is 2 years old. Since my mom has to work, I have been helping take care of him since he was born.
I finished high school in July 2025. After that, I started volunteering at a kindergarten in my village and also working at a homestay. From Monday to Friday, I am at the kindergarten from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. to teach the children. From 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., I work at the homestay as a host for the guests. When it is not high season, I also help with housekeeping and baking. The owner of the homestay has three children who are 15, 12, and 10 years old. Whenever I have time, I play with them, help them with their homework, and teach them how to greet the guests in English. Sometimes, when guests bring their children, we play with them as well. On Saturdays, I stay at home with my family and take care of my younger sister and brother. On Sundays, I also teach at Sunday school, and I have been doing this since I was 15. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, baking, and singing. Baking is one of my favorite hobbies because I love making sweet treats and trying new recipes. I also enjoy singing and music, as they always make me feel relaxed and happy.
I would describe myself as a friendly, kind, cheerful, and adaptable person. I really love spending time with children, and I always have many ideas for fun activities. Because I volunteer at a kindergarten, I often play ball with the kids, do coloring activities, play pretend cooking, make simple paper toys, and many more. I enjoy creating a warm and playful environment where children can learn and express themselves.
I want to become an Au Pair because I truly enjoy being around children and creating meaningful moments with them. Through taking care of my younger siblings, volunteering at the kindergarten, helping the children at the homestay, and teaching at Sunday school since I was 15, I have learned how to support kids with patience, care, and creativity. These experiences made me realize how happy I feel when I can help children learn new things, feel understood, and grow with confidence. Becoming an Au Pair feels like the perfect opportunity for me to share my love for children while experiencing a completely new culture. I am very excited to learn about European culture, which is so different from Indonesia, and to grow through new traditions, perspectives, and daily life with a new family.
