Personal introduction

Dear Future Host Family, My name is Kendyl, and I’m from Reno, Nevada, USA. I’m currently a second-year nursing student at the University of Utah, and I’m hoping to spend my summer break (May through early August) as an Au Pair abroad. I come from a close-knit family, I have one older sister who is also studying nursing, my dad works as a Chief Financial Officer at a construction company, and my mom is a senior DART colony specialist. I’m especially close with my grandma, and we love baking together whenever I’m home. I’d describe myself as energetic, warm, and open-minded, and I try to bring a positive attitude to everything I do. I love children, new experiences, and connecting with people from different cultures. Traveling has always inspired me, and after spending three months in Barcelona completing a nursing internship, I realized how much I enjoy living abroad and learning from the world around me. Becoming an Au Pair feels like the perfect way to combine my love for caring for others with my passion for exploring new places. More than anything, I hope to build a genuine connection with a host family, sharing meals, laughter, and everyday life together while learning from one another. I am responsible, compassionate, and adaptable. I take the well-being of others seriously and genuinely enjoy spending time with children. I value open communication and respect for family routines and would be dedicated to creating a fun, safe, and caring environment for your kids. I also love bringing creativity and energy into each day, whether that’s through outdoor adventures, baking together, or helping with schoolwork. I truly want to be more than just an extra set of hands; I’d love to become someone your children feel comfortable and happy around. I believe I’m well-qualified because of both my nursing background and my childcare experience. I’m a Certified Nursing Assistant and licensed phlebotomist, which has given me hands-on experience in patient care and responsibility. During my internship in Barcelona, I assisted doctors with injections, ultrasounds, and specialized procedures, which strengthened my ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and carefully. Outside of healthcare, I’ve babysat for several families, taught swim lessons, lifeguarded, and volunteered at a children’s hospital, where I played with kids, comforted babies, and supported families. Each experience has taught me how to create a nurturing, engaging, and safe environment for children of all ages.
