Personal introduction

Dear Future Host Family, My name is Janica, but you can call me Nica. I’m a 21-year-old Filipina currently living in the Philippines. I’m in my final year of university, studying Industrial Technology with a major in Food Processing Technology. I was raised in a close and loving family, and spending time with children has always felt natural to me. I've also been really curious about how people live in other parts of the world, which is why discovering new cultures excites me so much. I want to become an au pair and nanny because this has been a long-time dream of mine. In 2022, I created a vision board with the goal of living abroad and learning from a different culture. I originally planned to go to New Zealand, but later realized that Europe would give me more opportunities to explore neighboring countries. When I discovered the au pair program, it felt like the perfect fit, it allows me to care for children while becoming part of a new family and embracing a different way of life. You should consider hosting me because I am reliable, respectful, and genuinely enjoy being around children. I am happy to adapt to your routines and parenting preferences, and I will always treat your home and your family with care. I believe that an au pair should not only support but also bring warmth, kindness, and positive energy into the home and that’s exactly what I hope to offer. I would describe myself as cheerful, honest, and grounded. I love animals (I have a cat and dogs), and I enjoy cooking, watching movies, exploring nature, and learning new things. I can speak English and Filipino, ride a bike and motorcycle, and I don’t smoke. I’m a hands-on person who loves staying active and being helpful wherever I can. I may not have formal training, but I’ve gained a lot of experience caring for children in real-life situations. I helped take care of my younger cousins growing up, from changing diapers to feeding, bathing, and helping with schoolwork. I also spent time volunteering in our church’s summer outreach program, assisting with kids aged 7 to 12. Through those moments, I learned to be more patient, gentle, and responsible and it made me realize how much I enjoy being around children and supporting their growth. After my time as an au pair and nanny, I would love to continue growing by possibly pursuing further studies or working in a field related to childcare, education, or even hospitality. This experience will help me gain a deeper understanding of other cultures, improve my language skills, and prepare me for future opportunities abroad. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I would be truly honored to be a part of your family, and I look forward to creating meaningful memories, learning from you, and supporting your home with all my heart. Warm regards, Janica (Nica)
