Personal introduction

Dear future Host Family, I hope this message finds you well. My name is Sophia Kürmayr, I am 18 years old, and currently in my final year of grammar school in Austria, where I will graduate in June 2025. I am planning to take a gap year after graduation, and I am very excited about the opportunity to work as an au pair during (a part of) this year, starting in August/September 2025. I am flexible regarding the duration and would like to work in Sydney or another big city. In 2022, I spent six months abroad attending high school in Australia, which allowed me to develop fluency in English. Additionally, I have been studying Spanish and French for two years. I enjoy being creative and adventurous, which I believe aligns well with the activities you enjoy as a family. Most importantly, I have a genuine love for working with children. Last summer, I gained my first experience as an au pair with a French family, where I cared for two to three children. I also regularly babysit my young cousins, who are now 4 and 7 years old. These experiences have taught me to understand and respond to the needs of children in a nurturing and engaging way. I always find creative ways to keep them entertained while recognizing when they need a moment of calm. It is worth mentioning that my cousin’s mother is a pediatrician, which has given me additional insight into the intricacies of childcare. While I am still young, I feel confident that I possess the necessary skills and knowledge to care for children responsibly. I would be thrilled to have the opportunity to become part of your family and contribute positively to your household during this time.
