Personal introduction

Hi ! My name is Yssalia. I am 20 years old and I will be turning 21 soon. I am currently a psychology student and I am planning to take a gap year before continuing my studies. I have always dreamed of becoming an au pair to improve my English, experience a new culture and also discover a family – Maybe even yours ! Through my studies and internships, I have gained valuable working experience with children. For example, I was intern in child psychiatry with children from 3 to 14 years old. In addition, I have some experiences with babysitting. I feel most comfortable caring for 1 to 3 children, preferably aged five and up. I am planning to stay for between 6 and 10 months. I imagine my daily life as au pair with a good balance between independent time and family time. I am happy to help with light household chores such as cleaning, meal prep, or laundry, as I know it can be useful. Of course, I am flexible. The most important thing for me is the bond I will create with my host family. Now, to help you get to know me better, I had like to give a short description of myself. I am empathetic, patient, flexible and openminded – qualities I believe are essential to take care of children and integrate with success a family. For instance, during my internship in child psychiatry, I learned how to handle different emotions and adapt to each child's unique needs. I enjoy taking the initiative to plan fun activities or help with household chores, and I always try to be proactive in making sure everyone’s needs are met. Lastly, I love making people laugh and always try to bring a positive energy. About my hobbies, I love watching movies, playing board games, and doing crafts. I would be really happy to share creative moments, playtime, or cultural outings with your children or the whole family! I also really like music, all kinds of music. Besides, I have been learning to play piano for 7 years at a conservatory. Finally, I am a big food lover ! But don’t worry I love cooking too. I would be excited to learn about your local specialties and share some of mine with you. By the way, I have no dietary restrictions and love trying new foods ! One of my main motivations is to improve my English. I have a basic vocabulary, which allows me to understand and try to make myself understood in everyday situations. Speaking, however, is more challenging for me than understanding because I still miss some vocabulary and grammar skills. Even if I may feel a bit lost at the beginning, I am confident that I will quickly improve as I immerse myself in the language. Other my goal of being able to speak English fluently, being an au pair is more than just an experience for me ; it’s a way to grow personally, form deep connections, immerse myself in a new way of life and create together unforgettable memories.
