Personal introduction

Dear Future Host Family, My name is Simbolon Ferdiagatha, though you can call me Ferdi. I am 23 years old and currently living in Bandung, Indonesia. I have a background in the tourism industry, but my greatest passion lies in fostering connections with people and caring for children, which is why I am excited about the opportunity to become an au pair for your family. Growing up in a large Asian family with 15 cousins, I was constantly surrounded by the warmth of family. We lived close to one another, sharing meals and responsibilities, especially when our aunties went off to work. Babysitting my younger cousins became part of my daily routine, and from a young age, I learned the importance of community, teamwork, and care. These experiences shaped my sense of responsibility, patience, and adaptability—qualities that I believe make me a great fit for the role of an au pair. I’ve always been interested in volunteer work and community-based projects. One of my best experiences was when I volunteered as a teacher in Papua and Pulau Seribu, helping children develop their skills and fostering a sense of community there. This deepened my love for working with children and giving back to society. Though I now live in a busy urban environment, I hold onto the values of family and community. My hobbies, such as Taekwondo and gymnastics, keep me grounded, and I love watching Disney movies with my cousins, using these moments to teach them a few English words. Sharing these simple joys brings me closer to the children, and I hope to share the same experience with your family. My dream is to start a travel agency that focuses on eco-friendly, community-based tourism, connecting travelers with authentic cultural experiences. I believe that being an au pair will allow me to continue exploring new cultures, sharing my own, and building meaningful relationships along the way.
