Persönliche Einführung

Hi, I'm Silvia, I'm 21 years old and I'm an Italian girl. From the age of 12, I started taking summer trips without my parents, first to Italy and then abroad. At the age of 17, I left home to do the year abroad in the Netherlands, where I returned, after a couple of years, to be my host family's au pair. I am writing this to reassure you of my ability to live away from home for a long period of time without feeling strong nostalgia for it and to inform you of my previous experience as an au pair. I took care of a 7-year-old boy, taking him to the bus stop in the morning and taking him in the afternoon, then entertaining him by playing with him together (either at the playground or at home), taking him to bed, reading him some books and making his snack for school. I used to do housework to help my family, of course dinners cooked by me are never missing. Despite having already had an experience as an au pair, I would be thrilled to start a new one in a different country and with a different family. I meet the needs of each child and his interests in such a way as to guarantee his trust and be a safe reference and a playmate. I'm interested in discovering new countries and learning their language, adding extra knowledge to my linguistic background and being able to communicate with more people without always having to rely on English. I chose to go back to being au pair because right now I don't know which path to take for my future. I started a university course twice, but then dropped out because I didn't feel confident in what I was doing. So I decided to take a gap year to better understand my interests and focus on what I want to do without putting too much pressure on myself. Becoming an au pair would help me to understand my involvement in working with children or simply to study new languages and cultures, and why not maybe move abroad permanently.
