Hi all, I'm a half Spanish single mom to a cheeky, beautiful daughter, who's a hand full, but very charming. I work full time as Cabin Crew and I'm also a performer, dancing on most weekends in Birmingham. I'm looking for someone flexible, friendly, warm and open, to give me a hand, above all someone with a light hearted sense of humour and a fair bit of patience as I work all sorts of shifts. My aim is not just to have 'a nanny' but somebody who is happy to be part of the family, and not just shut themselves away when not working. Although not essential, a Spanish speaker would be nice, so my daughter can keep up the language when I'm not home.
I get my rotas a month in advance, so any potential au pair would know what times and days they are expected to work at that time too. Will try and keep it as simple as possible, I get 2-3 days off a week, which the au pair would also have free of duties. Should I work earlies, I generally have to be up at 3.30am. Any au pair would have to live in, and take responsibility when the child awakes. Get her dressed and fed, then take her to nursery. Once I'm home, which generally would be in time to collect her, I would resume duties. Therefore, I would collect her from nursery, etc. On long shifts, I may need the au pair to take responsibility from wake up to bed time, so breakfast, dressing her, taking her to nursery, collecting her, preparing tea, playtime etc and getting her to bed. On lates, I can take her to nursery and do all morning duties, the au pair would then take over for the afternoon. Weekends, I usually dance after work. If not working, I will take responsibility for the baby until it's time for me to leave when the au pair would need to either take over, or come along with me with the child. I will leave an example of some typical days below (please note, not all weeks and patterns are like this, some days off may differ week to week): Day one: leave house 4.30 am work until 1.30pm. Au pair would only need to take on morning duties here. Day 2 late shift 1-7pm. I can take child to nursery. Au pair to collect and take on afternoon duties, either au pair or myself can do bedtime duties on these kind of shifts. Day 3 long day shift from 10.30am to 10pm. Au pair would need to take on all duties for the day. Saturday evenings, performing for approx 2 hours, sometimes less. I need somebody flexible to cover situations such as the above, also to cover and be ready for duty on my standby (on call) days, and any overnight duties, which aren't often. Please not that on occasions I also get delayed or extended, so I need somebody who understands that these things happen, and can be prepared for them. It would also be lovely to have the odd night out without the baby, so please be prepared for this too on very rare occasions.
