We are a family of 4 from Edinburgh, Scotland and moved to Melbourne, Australia in July 2015 as we love the outdoor lifestyle. The children are 6 (Ciara) and 4 (Daniel) and they are happy, healthy and energetic children who love to be outside doing sports of any kind.
We'd expect some regular hours on 4 days of the week wher the au pair would take the children to school and kindergarten and then pick them up and entertain them and give them some snacks and dinner. We would expect the au pair to be able to bath the kids and put them to bed, read stories etc. but this would be less frequent as this is something we like to do ourselves. Indicative hours (tbc) Mon 9-3, Tues 7-9 and 3.30-6.30, Weds 7.30-1.30 and 3.30-6.30, Thurs 7-6 + 2-3 hours on sat/sun. They would have their own room but a shared bathroom, would not be expected to deal with children during the night, would be treated as a big sister and we'd help her settle and try to find friends and would be allowed to use one of our cars even if she is not caring for the kids at that time. We would expect some light housework.....keeping the house generally tidy, basic cooking for the kids, hanging out washing etc.
