Dear au pair, we are not 100% sure what our needs are for our family, just that we like the idea of having someone around to help with our son as he gets older, and especially as I, the stay at home dad, figure out my work schedule in the next year.
We are a bi-national same sex couple. I am from Virginia, and my husband is from Iceland. Our son was born here in Iceland and we are his sole custodians, and he is biologically related to us. We have also a dog, some rabbits in our back yard, and a large garden full of flowers and some vegetables. Our son was born in November of 2014, so he is still an infant. He is very active, makes lots of noises, but is a very happy and smiley baby. He enjoys being walked around so he can see new things, and has no health or mental issues. He still uses diapers, is teething, but sleeps through most nights. We are raising him bi-lingual in English and Icelandic. My husband speaks fluent German in addition to our shared languages of English and Icelandic. We are still not 100% sure what we want from an au pair. Currently I work from home, so just light babysitting when I need to get work done is enough, but my job could be finished by the end of this year, and then I would need to seek outside the home employment, which would necessitate more childcare during the day. Housework would only be that which you have contributed to (dishes, cleaning your room, washing/hanging/folding your clothes, bathroom cleaning rotation, etc)
