We live in New Jersey with very limited support nearby. We are both working parents (I work from home, my husband works 30 minutes away) and have tried a typical daycare for our daughter, which we did not like. We prefer our daughter to have one-on-one time with her caregiver who will pay attention to her needs, help her grow and create a really special bond between them. We are very family oriented and love to spend time at home together, cooking, dancing and singing and just enjoying each other's company. We would love to have an Au Pair who would love to feel like a part of the family, and yet also have their own time to relax, unwind and have private time.
Our ideal Au Pair would take over caring for our daughter once I start work (around 9am) and make sure that she is fed, changed, played with and generally cared for. We have a big backyard so in the summer they can sometimes play outside and enjoy the fresh air. Since I work from home, I can also give the Au Pair a break around lunch time and of course give any assistance I could while working (briefly watching the baby if the Au Pair needs to use the rest room, needs a break on a stressful day, etc.). While the baby is napping or playing alone, it would be helpful to have the Au Pair help with her laundry or cleaning her bottles (but this isn't a necessity).
