Hello, we are a family of four living in Edinburgh, the lovely capital of Scotland and a medium sized, wonderfully cosmopolitan city. Edinburgh is a great gateway to both Scotland and the United Kingdom, and is famous for its nature and its cultural offerings in equal measure. Every August there is the world famous Edinburgh international festival, which is a month long showcase of comedy, music, theatre, dance and literature. We are interested in welcoming an au pair into our home to provide our children with a supportive and fun home environment, and also to create an opportunity for a safe, mutual exchange of culture, language and interests. We are well traveled and are keen to host someone who is not only reliable and nurturing but also curious, sociable and independent. We are a bilingual and multinational family. The home languages are English and Swedish, and we have extended family in the United States, Poland, South Korea and Sweden.
We expect our au pair to primarily help with the children-- dropping off and picking up our children from school, bringing the children to clubs, sports and activities, spending time with the children in the afternoon with homework or playing games, helping with dinner and bedtime routines, occasional evening babysitting. We expect the au pair to help support Swedish speaking in the home by conversing with and reading to the children only in Swedish, although we of course will support the au pair's efforts to improve her English as well if so desired. We have a regular cleaner, but we expect the au pair to clean up after the kids eat, help the kids tidy their room at the end of the day, help with laundry duties and recycling, and help maintain the cleanliness of the common areas of the flat after personal use. We would expect the au pair to cook one family meal per week, but this is something we won't expect from the beginning and we would be happy to help teach basic cooking skills if necessary.
