We are a young, energetic, and a very charismatic family. We are outgoing, when time permits, but mostly love to entertain people and cook! We spend summers enjoying grilling and swimming in the privacy of our back yard, and tend to prepare big tables on holidays while having family and friends over. Our week days are very predictable. Dad works from home with occasional business trips. Mom works from home three days a week.
The work day is generally over by 5:30-6:00pm. We will try to have dinner before 7:00pm. After that it is our daughter's bath time, immediately followed by bedtime. The household is quiet for the remainder of the evening. Au pair has the privacy of her own separate guest house. Obviously we want to be able to trust our au pair with our young daughter, and make sure she is confident and comfortable with her daily responsibilities. We like to think of our au pair as our family, and not just an employee. We welcome participation in all family activities outside of work hours, but they are, of course, at the discretion of our au pair and are not in any way mandatory. Our au pairs are welcome to invite friends and other au pairs into the guest house, and occasional sleep overs are also permitted, assuming mom or dad are at home. We do not allow sleep overs that are more than friendly, such as when au pair is in a relationship with someone. Our au pair will enjoy access to a car, her own cell phone, and the privacy of her own apartment in a separate guest house. With that, we expect no personal cell phone usage during work hours. We also expect that car use will be limited to personal needs and not to be taken advantage of to please others. If an Au Pair is going out of the house for the evening and is working on the following day, we expect her to be home by midnight, ensuring that she is well rested when caring for our child.
